Fournitures :

• Un rectangle de vieux drap doublé d'un voile thermocollant double face 10 x 18 cm 4''x 7''

• Un carré de drap fin 20 x 20 cm 7⅞''x 7⅞''

• Un petit cercle à broder ( environ 15 cm 6'' de diamètre)

• Cotons à broder

• Ciseaux de brodeuse

• Perles de rocaille

• Une dentelle écrue (2 hauteurs de page)

• Un rectangle de coton à pois : 13 x 19 cm 5''x 7½''

• Un morceau de carton ondulé

• Gesso

• 2 petites chutes de tissu

• 1 étiquette papillon

• 1 breloque

• tulle teint (ou compresse coton périmée)

• une dentelle violette de 12 cm 6''de long

• Un morceau de ficelle

• Peinture aquarelle ou à l'eau

• Un cachet de cire (Facultatif)

Réalisation :

1) Sur le coton fin reporter les 5 pétales de la pensée et les 3 feuilles par transparence.

Tendre ce tissu dans le cadre à broder.

Sur le pourtour d'un pétale faire un point arrière avec 2 brins du coton choisi.

2) Tracer des lignes repère sur le corps du pétale de manière à donner une direction aux points à venir.

3) Au passé empiétant remplir ce corps de pétale avec un à 2 brins de coton en s'aidant des lignes repère tout en recouvrant le point arrière précédent. Commencer par le pourtour puis par l'intérieur de la pièce.

4) Refaire un point arrière autour du pétale pour souligner le bord. Retirer le cercle à broder.

Avec des petits ciseaux de brodeuse découper la pièce le long du point arrière en prenant soin de ne pas couper la broderie.

5) En piquant l'aiguille entre le point arrière et le passé empiétant

faire un point de feston assez serré tout autour du pétale avec 2 brins de coton approprié.

Faire ainsi les 5 pétales et les 3 feuilles.

Retirer le papier du double face à l'arrière du rectangle de vieux drap.

L'encoller sur le rectangle de tissu à pois. Sur le vieux drap, en s'aidant de la photo dessiner la tige de la pensée et des feuilles, l'emplacement de la fleur et des feuilles. Broder les tiges au point de tige (4 brins) et les fins branchages au point d'épine. Possibilité de peindre des brindilles supplémentaires ou de les broder. Reconstituer la fleur en fixant la base des pétales par de petits points solides.

Broder un point de poste au centre avec un coton à broder orangé. Fixer les feuilles. (Photo 1 et photo 2)

Coudre les perles de rocaille.

A droite de ce montage coudre le tulle ou compresse avec un zig-zag à la machine ou à la main. A gauche coudre les 2 hauteurs de dentelle en insérant les 2 petites chutes de tissu.

Disposer cette nouvelle fleur sur la page suivante du livre en cours. La coudre sur la page, à la main sur 3 côtés (le bord extérieur restera ouvert de manière à créer comme une pochette).

Compléter avec la dentelle violette en bas, la breloque, le carton ondulé passé au gesso, le cachet de cire, l'étiquette papillon, la ficelle sur la tige de la pensée…(photo 3)

A rectangle of old sheet lined with a double-sided iron-on voile 10 x 18 cm (4''x 7'') 

A square of thin sheet 20 x 20 cm (7#''x 7#'') 

A small embroidery hoop ( approx. 15 cm (6'') de diameter) 

Embroidery cottons, Embroidery scissors

 Seed beads 

n ecru lace (2 page heights) 

A cotton rectangle with polka dots: 13 x 19 cm (5''x 7½'') 

A piece of corrugated cardboard

Gesso 2 small scraps of fabric 

1 butterfly label 

1 charm Dyed tulle (or expired cotton gauze) 12 cm (6'') 

long purple lace A piece of string 

Watercolor or water-based paint

A wax seal (Optional) 

 1. Transfer the 5 pansy petals and 3 leaves onto the thin cotton fabric. Stretch this fabric into the embroidery frame. Around one petal, back-stitch with 2 strands of the chosen cotton. 

2. Draw reference lines on the body of the petal to give direction to the points to come. 

3. Using the passé empiétant embroidery stitch, fill this petal body with 1-2 strands of cotton, using the reference lines, while covering the previous back stitch. Start with the perimeter, then the inside of the piece. 

4. Stitch back around the petal to emphasize the edge. Remove the embroidery hoop. Using small embroidery scissors, cut the piece along the backstitch, taking care not to cut the embroidery. 

5. Stitch the needle between the back stitch and the past overlap, make a fairly tight scalloped stitch all around the petal with 2 strands of suitable cotton. Make the 5 petals and 3 leaves in this way. Remove the double-sided paper from the back of the old sheet rectangle. Glue it to the rectangle of polka-dot fabric. On the old sheet, using the photo as a guide, draw the pansy stem and leaves, and the location of the flower and leaves. Embroider the stems in stem stitch (4 strands) and the fine branches in thorn stitch. Additional twigs can be painted or embroidered. Reconstruct the flower by securing the petal bases with small, solid stitches. Embroider a post stitch in the center with orange embroidery cotton. Attach leaves. Sew on the seed beads. To the right of this assembly, sew the tulle or compress with a zig-zag, either by machine or by hand. On the left, sew the 2 heights of lace, inserting the 2 small scraps of fabric. Place this new flower on the next page of the current book. Sew it to the page, by hand, on 3 sides (the outer edge will remain open to create a pocket-like effect). 

Complete with the purple lace at the bottom, the charm, the gessoed corrugated cardboard, the wax seal, the butterfly label, the string on the pansy stem…
